Currently, Meijer is looking for a Sr. Enterprise BI Solution Architect.  The individual selected for this position will be responsible for working closely with Business Analysts, IT Architects and users to understand data requirements and business process in order to define, architect, prescribe and coordinate all development efforts. The primary goals of this position are to enable the development, and ultimately delivery, of business intelligence products, such as reports and dashboards, which will be achieved through leading and coordinating teams, conducting analysis, and assisting/facilitating design of the aforementioned deliverables.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Working on multiple projects and/or enterprise class projects as a project leader and/or subject matter expert
  • Working closely with Business Analysts and IT Architects to analyze data requirements, business functions and processes; gathering requirements for the development of and enhancements to data warehouse projects
  • Finalizing business requirements and create high-level design documentation to demonstrate the mapping of business requirements to data requirement fulfillment
  • Leading the design, development or selection, and support of Enterprise BI applications, technologies, and architecture
  • Directing systems development processes, including planning and monitoring efforts, coordination with other groups, reviewing deliverables, and communicating status with management
  • Providing technical expertise and direction for the development of complex enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence solutions
  • Creating data warehouse designs that provide reusable architectural components and enable high-performance data access and distribution
  • Participating and/or leading in design and development or restructuring of extract, transform and load (ETL) processes and summarization routines
  • Assisting with developing standards, policies and procedures for data warehouse and business intelligence tools and utilities
  • Assisting with establishing the strategic architecture and infrastructure for the enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence tools
  • Maintaining quality of data in the warehouse, including ensuring integrity and currency of data, correcting any data problems, and establishing design procedures to purge/archive old data
  • Completing assigned projects on time, within budget and resource limits, and according to requirements
  • Using Meijer project methodology where appropriate
  • Coaching, mentoring and providing technical direction and training to other IT personnel
  • Assisting with the design and coordination of a curriculum for coaching and training customers in the use of data access and distribution components and the EDW data model(s)
  • Providing off-hours support as needed during critical business implementations or timeframes

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training, is required
  • 7+ years of experience with large and complex data warehouse systems, business intelligence tools, and systems
  • Strong experience with Relational and Multi-Dimensional data modeling (logical and physical)
  • Strong experience with enterprise class Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing project lifecycle (requirements gathering, tool evaluation, functional and technical design)
  • Strong relational database knowledge (RDBMS - Teradata preferred), including data warehousing and high-performance design for large volume systems
  • Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy, BI-Query, Teradata SQL Assistant, PowerBI, SAS, SSAS Tabular, DAX, SSRS, Excel, Alteryx) knowledge helpful
  • Strong knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes/tools (Specifically DataStage) and advanced SQL and query optimization skills

  • Strong project management skills with ability to organize and drive new EDW projects working with multi-functional or cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the BI/EDW team's knowledge and concern for customer's business needs
